February 25 just be youOh, to be me...
The easiest thing in the world is
to be you.
The most difficult thing to be is
what other people want you to be.
Don’t let them put you in that position.
Leo Buscaglia
Well, we made it to the camping grounds. The two hour trip to this most pristine part of the world was worth the mad lead up to a weekend away, after a crazy week at work.
Spending a stint in the local hospital and town, whilst Ms Guided had her eldest have her head stitched, after a scarey fall off the swings at the campground, was well utilised, on my behalf. I got to chill out and take in the simplicity of the countryside and its lovely country folk. I had stopped at this local town, eleven years ago, en route to a Christian Brother College camping grounds. Now, this lil sleepy town is home to many folk from other states, who happily plant themselves in this serene neck of the woods.
Got back from hospital to have my tent put up and kids fed by the rest of our wonderful mates. There was a crowd of us (maybe forty or more) who flocked to this little hidden nest for the weekend. Ten of us managed to stay up till the early hours rolling from one belly wrenching laugh to the next whilst pouring intermittingly the brew of the night. Feel regretful for the other sensible folk who hit the sack early and had to try and sleep with our raucous behaviour. Hindinsight is a wonderful tool and am glad I choose to stay until last 'cos our tent was a stone's throw away from the silly billy session. I needed to indulge in such madness and roll from one great laugh to another. Life has become far too serious and routine oriented of late, for me.
Speaking of professional seriousness, we have Channel Seven, coming to snap an insight into our fundraising for Lent. We are raising money for a local blind guy. He needs $25,000 to train a guide dog!!! We are also continuing with our support for Rawanda, as per last year. We raised $3,200 there. We will hit that landing pad in true colours tomorrow morning. Naughty kids might decide to take the day off instead of blustering in to create painful blisters
for the rest of us.
Have a great week one and all!!
February 19 SEEINGFebruary 18 SEXY WOMENwomen endowed with that sassy sex appeal... "She can't help been ugly,' was a comment one of the more admirable young male members of our staff made referring to a woman who works in one of our specialised departments. This woman has an important position but her physical and vocal disposition leaves, even me, squeaming sometimes. And hearing this comment made me think seriously about the impact that some women seem to bring with them to the world stage. There is just something about her and consequently am left to ponder the 'sexy woman' phenomenon. Am not trying to advocate outrageous feminism but I think its important to know the women that left their mark on history tastefully. And perhaps to ponder why their names have gone down in the annals of history. Here is my personal list: 1. Boudica- British queen who led a revolt against the Romans (I just watched a thing about her on History Channel- amazing!!!) 29. Ayung Sann Sui Chi - Burmese advocate of human rights and democratic principles under house arrest since the 90s (she won the vote of her people but... 30. Marilyn Monroe - exuberated confidence and perfected female attributes beyond imagining 32. Arundhati Roy - Indian campaigner for human rights and advocate of justice for poor especially with Narmada daming projects And my personal favourite, of the moment, is this woman -Arundhati Roy - high profile writer, actress and social activist won the 1997 Booker Prize for her first novel The God of Small Things. Also a trained architect, she has worked as a production designer and has written the screenplays for two films. Originally from Kerala in South India, she lives in New Delhi, India. Booker Prize winner and environment activist Arundhati Roy has turned down the 2006 Sahitya Akademi award for her book The Algebra of Infinite Justice.Ms. Roy had declined the award, saying she could not accept the honour from an institution linked to a government whose policies she opposed. Perhaps a female protege of the Bob Geldof style of Stand and Deliver! Sex appeal in women, according to our menfolk, is where:
Salam Hayek has to fit that paradigm and perhaps sharpness can be added here too. Would love to hear your insights on what it is that gives women that sass 'nd sex appeal....hmmm February 14 DIVINE LOVIN'You must become the love you seek, the mercy you seek, the forgiveness you seek…. Richard Rohr
Love cannot be hidden where it truly does not exist nor can it be hidden where it truly does ~Anonymous~ Love is a temporary insanity curable only be marriage ~Ambrose Bierce~

Seduce my mind and you can have my body, Find my soul and I am yours forever ... strength... strength to hold on and strength to let go
Hoping you all had the most sweetest of Valentine's Day. February 10 THE ART OF LIVINGFebruary 06 REALITY CAME CRASHING IN....RIDING THE WAVES OF LOSS AND GRIEF
Arrived at work to greet one of our Year Twelve students with a chirpy "Good Morning..." He replied back; "Miss, can we talk sometime today!" "Of course. When? Soon or later" was my robust reply as I headed for that first coffee fix, to the staffroom. "Morning tea is good", was his reply. As I infused and chatted with staff, the Deputy told me she needed to see me. She told me that this young guy's mother had just rang to say his father had passed away over night.
Tip toeing to the library, where he was, I momentarily got my head and heart around what awaited me. His mate and I sat and listened to him say; "Have you heard Miss? If he was alive today I was going to ask you to pray for him anyway." This young man started with us four years ago as the school terror and a teacher's nightmare. Since then he has grown into a solid young person.
He cringed as he blurted out the story of his father been taken in an ambulance suffering from a massive heart attack and seeing him in the hospital later with all of the wires etc.
He said God was good to him. During this time, this young guy prayed (and he is not known to do this, swear maybe...) and asked God to let his Dad live. Minutes later the phone rang to say his Dad was conscious again.
This is the precious part. He told his Dad over the phone; "Dad, you can let go, now, if you want to!"
Shortly afterwards the phone rang to say his Dad had indeed passed away, this time.
He did have another wish today, that is, that he got a chance to say; "Goodbye Dad!"
February 04 TUNDRA ZONES-SEA ICEINTERNATIONAL POLAR YEAR 2007-2008
I got the shock of my life when I went online last week to see what we were committed to this year. By the way, it was whilst I was at work (part of planning for reflective rituals) and so it was a kind of must do exercise. Mind you I do not mind rambling off into the woods on the PC when it is for something different to planning meetings and assignments!!! And all the better when it is all in the name of a global issue especially if the boss happens to harp on the doorstep.
Last year I kinda knew it was something to do with desertification before the year even started. And hey presto, I cannot believe that our darling media folk had not made mention of the tundra, bearing in mind the state of the ozone layer. Then again, I have not heard inference to that in eons either. And of course, we have the embarrassing laissez faire attitude of our darling leader, John, towards the Koyoto thing, that lurks around the place. Hope you guys are more globally aware than missy here who lives on a surreal part of the planet!! I hope so.
EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT SEA ICE
1. What is SEA ICE and what does SEA ICE look like?
Sea ice is a thin, fragile, solid layer that forms in the Polar Oceans. It forms a boundary between the relatively warm ocean and the cooler atmosphere. There are many different kinds of sea ice, and here are a few of the main ones: This is a picture of a first year ice floe, or ice that grows during one winter. It is usually smooth and is commonly 0.5 to 1.0 m thick. The ice has been broken up to form rafts. A research ship is in the left corner.
Ridges are long extents of compressed, broken pieces of first year ice. Their thicknesses can vary greatly.
Multi-year ice has grown during at least two consecutive winters and is 3 to 5 m thick. It is not as smooth as first-year ice. A weathered ridge crosses this floe.
